Sado Island Long Distance International Triathron is said to have one of the hardest courses of all triathrons in Japan, and hot competition goes on and on. It is a large-scale sports event backed up by the whole of Sado, and athletes from around the world as well as those from all Japan participate.
Sado Hill Climb

This event marks the opening of the summer festival season of Sado Island. The procession of Okesa dancers throughout the town, the outdoor performance of Kodo (the group of Japanese drum artists based on Sado) and the fireworks display ― the festival with history is held with Aikawa's main street as its center.
Oni-daiko in Niibo & Toki Yubae Ichi (flea market in the sunset glow)

Sado's biggest outdoor market consisting of more than 70 stalls. Various local oni-daiko groups (Sado's unique classical performance in which demons dance) gather and perform, vying with each other.
Akadomari Port Festival

The festival is held every year at Momijiyama Park, which is noted for being the island's most prominent place for viewing autumn foliage. Various entertainments are given in the park whose bright red foliage is pleasing to the eye.
Osaki Soba (buckwheat noodles) Party

In addition to genuinely handmade noodles with 100% buckwheat and no liaison, you can taste country food such as dishes of vegetables boiled with soy sauce and of wild plants. You can also fully enjoy traditional public entertainments of the Osaki district and Bunya-ningyo (Sado's traditional puppet play).
