Aikawa Festival
Aikawa, a town with over 400 years of history, is transformed into a festival wonderland.
Aikawa Festival is the annual festival of Uto Shrine, the tutelary shrine of the Aikawa area. With over 400 years of tradition, it is one of the largest village festivals in Sado. After rituals at the shrine, a taiko team pulls around a float with a drum on it, a lion dance parades through the town, and Ondeko visits neighboring households. The festival reaches its climax when the portable shrine parade and the taiko drumming team battle, a must-see!
